30 years ago, Solar was supposed to be here within a few years. We got Solar water heaters, some tax credits, walkway lights and a way to cook hotdogs on a Solar Cooker. In the meantime, the sun continued to shine almost every day, summers came and went and Solar energy was the 'kick me' article in Popular Science, Scientific American but went nowhere. Whine, Whine, Whine, wring your hands at NO breakthroughs and let's all blame nasty oil/coal interests for keeping us from practical Solar applications. I am ALL for alternative energy sources, and think a variety are worth developing dependent on conditions where you live. Solar here in desert, wind turbines in xx and thermal in another xx. But, forgive me when I see this as just another way for a politician to get some face time...with nothing to show for it.
