13-year-old boy killed in rollover wreck in Yuma

YUMA, AZ – A 13-year-old boy was killed in a rollover wreck in Yuma, according to a Monday report.

Deputy Juvera with the Yuma County Sheriff's Office saida single vehicle accident was reported on Avenue 29E, approximately .15 miles S. of E. County 8th Street, at 2:55 p.m. on Friday.

A silver 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix sedan was reportedly traveling northbound on Avenue 29E when the driver lost control, over corrected, and rolled the vehicle.

There were two occupants of the vehicle including 38-year-old Rhonda Payne and 13-year-old Micheal Payne, both from Wellton.

Juvera said neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck.
 
The driver, Rhonda, received incapacitating injuries and was transported the Yuma Regional Medical Center where she remains in stable condition, according to YCSO.
 
Michael was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The cause of the incident is still under investigation and alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor in the collision.
