TUCSON, AZ -- A former beauty queen and University of Arizona law school student accused of orchestrating the kidnapping of her former boyfriend will spend the next two years in prison.
Pima County prosecutors say 27-year-old Kumari Fulbright pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiracy to commit kidnapping and aggravated assault. She will be sentenced March 1.
Prosecutors say Fulbright agreed to serve two years in prison for the assault charge and she will have to serve a term of probation on the kidnapping charge once she's released.
Fulbright and three men were arrested in December 2007 after the alleged victim told police he'd been tied up and kept captive for eight to 10 hours, robbed and tortured.
Fulbright ran in the Miss Arizona contest and was named Miss Pima County in 2005 and Miss Desert Sun in 2006.
Earlier, prosecutors said Fulbright faced more than 40 years in prison if she had been convicted during her scheduled February trial.
