TUCSON, AZ -- Tucson police released the identity of a teenager shot to death early Sunday at a party on the city's east side.
The victim is identified as 19-year-old Carlos Birmingham. Police received a 911 call reporting several shots fired in the 5300 block of East 23rd Street just after 1 a.m. Sunday.
Officers arrived and found Birmingham lying in the street with a gunshot wound. Birmingham was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are unsure what led to the shooting.
Investigators say the incident occurred at what they call a "texting" party. Apparently, people find out about a party and begin texting others the address. This continues and numerous people, many of whom do not know each other, end up at the party.
