TUCSON, AZ -- A Tucson middle school student remains hospitalized Thursday after he was struck by a school bus Wednesday afternoon.
Tucson police say the Townsend Middle School student is in critical but stable condition at University Medical Center.
Tucson Police Department spokesman Sgt. Fabian Pacheco said the 11-year-old sixth grader suffered a broken femur and may have internal injuries.
The boy was struck as he was crossing East Grant Road at North Beverly Avenue just before 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said he was walking southbound in the crosswalk when the bus, which was also headed south, hit the boy as he attempted to make a left turn onto Grant.
Pacheco said traffic detectives are still investigating and no citations have been issued.
