TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- A 2-year-old girl drowned Sunday in her family's aboveground hot tub at the family's home just south of Tucson Mountain Park.
A spokeswoman for the Drexel Heights Fire District said the girl was playing in the backyard when she somehow fell into the uncovered spa.
The child's grandfather was in the backyard with her, but was inside a work-shed when the girl fell in.
Other family members were inside the house at the time.
It was unclear how long the girl was underwater before her grandfather noticed what had happened.
Fire officials said the girl was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Tucson where she was pronounced dead.
The grandfather was also taken to the hospital suffering chest pains.
