TUCSON, AZ -- A school monitor at a Tucson high school was arrested Tuesday after he sent a sexually explicit image to a female student.
Tucson Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Fabian Pacheco said detectives assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit arrested 26 year-old Sheridan Gomez, for the unlawful furnishing of a harmful item to a minor.
According to Pacheco, officers were dispatched to Cholla High School on Monday afternoon after receiving reports that a student received sexually graphic photos on her cellular phone.
On arrival, officers learned that Gomez, a campus monitor, sent the student a picture of his genitalia.
Pacheco said officers determined that Gomez befriended the female student, who gave him her phone number. The following evening, the student began receiving unwanted text messages, including the last message which contained the obscene image.
School officials found out about the incident and reported it to officials. Gomez was arrested late Tuesday and booked into the Pima County Jail.
