Tucson police are investigating the death of an 81-year-old man found Sunday night.
Police responded to a report of an assault victim.
When officers arrived they found Leroy Van Verth suffering from obvious trauma. Officers say Van Verth suffered serious injuries.
The victim was taken to University Medical Center where he later died. Detectives say Van Verth was approached near his home by an unknown male described as six-foot, 165 pounds, wearing dark colored clothing.
Police have not said what the motive was for the attack.
