An assault inside a Tucson prison has left one inmate dead on Thursday.
Timothy Lucero, 38, was reportedly assaulted at ASPC-Tucson Cimarron Unit.
Lucero was pronounced dead while being transported to a nearby hospital.
According to officials, a peace officer conducts an investigation surrounding the death and a medical examiner performs a death investigation or orders an autopsy whenever a death occurs in prison.
Lucero was admitted to the prison on August 30th, 2005 to serve sentences for a marijuana drug violation and for theft of means of transportation.
