On Thanksgiving Day, Border Patrol agents arrested six undocumented Chinese immigrants after finding eight more being driven into the U.S. near Sasabe two days earlier.
November 24, agents stopped a van and discovered eight Chinese with five Mexican undocumented immigrants inside. They were arrested, along with the driver of the van.
Two days later, Border Patrol agents stopped a Dodge pickup that was driving erratically near Sasabe, southwest of Tucson, according to a Border Patrol news release.
When the vehicle stopped, the driver fled the scene on foot. He was later caught after a search by helicopter.
Inside the pickup agents found six people, all Chinese undocumented immigrants.
Prosecution is being sought against the drivers of both vehicles, who were Mexican nationals, according to the news release.
The penalty for smuggling humans carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, and a $250,000, according to officials.
