Two men are safe after Tucson firefighters rescued them from their pickup truck after it was swept down a Tucson wash.
Tucson Fire Department spokesman Captain Norm Carlton said the truck was carried 300 yards down the Midtown wash Sunday evening.
Authorities said the pair were crossing the wash when the truck stalled in what they thought was shallow water at the bottom of the wash.
A passenger said the rising floodwaters soon swept the pair and the truck downstream.
When the truck stopped, the pair were trapped at the bottom of a deep wash.
The passenger called 9-1-1 and the Tucson Fire Department sent at least 25 rescuers to the scene.
Pima County flood control officials said a rain gauge at Randolph Golf Course near the scene measured 1.30 inches of rain Sunday evening.
