Reported by: Associated Press
Last Update: 8/05 11:16 am
SIERRA VISTA, AZ -- A woman faces sentencing after pleading guilty to stealing money from a disabled Bisbee man.

The attorney general's office said 37-year-old Alma Joy was charged with committing theft of $25,000 from Jesus Falcon, fraudulent schemes and artifices against Falcon, and money laundering.

According to an indictment, the offenses took place between July 7, 2006, and Oct. 30, 2006.

The plea deal calls for the dismissal of the other two charges.

Instead of prison time, the parties agreed to supervised probation for Joy and restitution for an amount not to exceed $500,000.

Joy was accused of stealing Social Security money from Falcon and funneling the money through bank accounts she opened in Falcon's name.

Joy's attorney Mark Higgins declined to comment on the case.
