DOUGLAS, AZ -- A 32-year-old Phoenix woman was arrested in southern Arizona Saturday night for allegedly attempting to smuggle marijuana into the U.S.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say officers at the Douglas Port of Entry were screening travelers when the woman, driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck, was selected for inspection.

Using 'high-tech' equipment, CBP officers reportedly discovered that the bed of the pickup as well as the gas tank had been altered to accommodate hiding nearly 200 pounds of marijuana. The drugs had an estimated street value of $310,000.

CBP officers seized the vehicle and drugs and the unidentified woman was turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for further investigation. She was reportedly a U.S. citizen.
