PHOENIX -- Have you got piles of trash or recyclables around the house that you need to get rid of?

Then you'll want to take advantage of five free days in October to dump those items at six Maricopa County waste transfer stations.

Maricopa County Solid Waste Management is offering the five free dump days as part of its "Take it to the Dump" campaign.

Officials say illegal, or desert dumping, is a crime punishable by up to six months in prison and a $2,500 fine.

The five free days include October 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the following locations:

Aguila - 48848 N. 531 Ave

Cave Creek - 3955 E. Carefree Highway

Hassayampa - 32450 W. Salome Highway

Morristown - 40135 N. Highway 60

New River - 41835 N. Lake Pleasant

Rainbow Valley - 17795 S. Rainbow Valley
