Newly-released data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows La Paz County in Western Arizona is the "oldest" county in the nation.

Residents age 65 or older accounted for 34 percent of its population in 2008.

Nationally, the story out of the Census numbers is the growing minority in the U.S.

Four states were majority-minority in 2008, meaning more than half the population was of a group other than single-race, non-Hispanic white.

Those states were Hawaii (75 percent), New Mexico (58 percent), California (58 percent), and Texas (53 percent).
