The SUV was located with aerial assistance from Customs and Border Protection.
When agents got to the site, they found the vehicle abandoned and hidden near a cattle tank. Border Patrol said the driver was not found.
The vehicle, which had been reported as stolen, was turned over to the Pima County Sheriff's Office.
Border Patrol said the bundles of marijuana, weighing about 1,600 pounds and with a street value of approximately $1 million, were taken to the Ajo Station for processing.
