NOGALES, AZ – One person was killed in a rollover wreck outside Nogales Thursday night.
Harold Sanders with the Arizona Department of Public Safety said the accident occurred around 9:38 p.m. on northbound Interstate 19, north of Nogales.
A GMC SUV towing a trailer was traveling northbound when the trailer sustained a right tire failure, according to Sanders.
The driver apparently failed to maintain control of the SUV as the trailer began to sway and traveled off the roadway onto the dirt shoulder.
Sanders said the vehicle then went into a section of guardrail, into an embankment, and rolled-over.
The driver was ejected from the SUV during the roll-over.
DPS investigators determined that the driver was not wearing any safety restraints at the time of the accident.
Gerardo F. Jaramillo, age 39, of Tucson was declared deceased on the scene.
