MARICOPA, AZ -- Authorities say a Maricopa high school student is in custody after making a bomb threat Tuesday.
According to Maricopa police, the female student threatened a teacher by saying she would be sorry because a bomb would be placed on the school grounds the next day.
The threat was reported the Maricopa Police School Resource Officer who was on campus and the student was taken into custody.
Police said a search was conducted of the student and classroom where nothing suspicious was found. The school was not evacuated, according to police.
The student reportedly later said she was angry and made the threatening remark to scare the teacher.
The student was transported to the Pinal County Juvenile Detention Center where she was booked on felony charges of disruption of an educational institution.
Police said that due to the Veteran's Day holiday, no students or staff would be on campus Wednesday.
The campus will be closely monitored by Maricopa police when school resumes Thursday, according to police.
