MARICOPA, AZ -- The Maricopa Police Department is investigating a weekend break-in at Maricopa High School.
Tom Beckett with the Maricopa Unified School District confirmed Monday that investigators were at the school attempting to determine exactly what was stolen.
Someone reportedly broke into the school on Sunday night.
Sergeant Stephen Judd with the Maricopa Police Department said this is the eighth time a burglary has taken place on the Maricopa High School campus since April of 2008.
The suspect, or suspects, reportedly entered the main office building and took several small electronics that were locked in desk drawer.
Beckett said several desks used by administrative assistants at the school were damaged and belongings inside those desks were missing.
Video from surveillance cameras recently installed at the school is being reviewed by investigators to determine who may be responsible for the break-in.
Beckett said the thieves also broke in to the health services office at the school, but it appears nothing was missing.
It appears that the main office was targeted specifically for the items and no other property was taken or damaged, according to Judd.
The main office of the school was closed for several hours during the initial investigation; however, no students were impacted due to the fact the school is out on break this week.
Anyone who has any information related to this crime is asked to contact the Maricopa Police Department.
