"I saw my electric bill go through the roof compared to what I had seen before," said City of Maricopa resident Jase Leonard.
At Leonard's house, the thermostat is set to 74 degrees, the same as always.
"Last month's bill was about $260, this month was over $400," said Leonard.
He wants to know why.

"The temperature has been significantly hotter and I think that's probably the biggest factor in his bill being up," said General Manager of Electrical District #3 in Maricopa Bill Stacy.
Stacy said Leonard's house used 1000 more Kwh's compared to the month before.
Besides the increase in temperature, ED3 has raised the cost of power 3 times in the past year.
"With the increase in power cost everyone has been seeing we have had to pass that along to our customers," said Stacy.
He said their rates are about the same as APS, in some categories lower.
He adds there are other ways to save money, like time of use rates.
"The off peak rate is probably one third the price of the on peak rate, so you can save a lot," said Stacy.
It's a year hotter than ever and electricity costs more.
