GILA BEND, AZ -- Authorities say they rescued three people found wandering in the desert near Gila Bend on Tuesday but another person was found dead of apparent heat exposure.
The three rescued people are all believed to be illegal immigrants and have been flown by medical helicopter to area hospitals for treatment.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Border Patrol began the search after receiving calls about the situation.
Authorities say the group was spotted near the Arizona 85 highway on the Barry M. Goldwater Range about 2:15 p.m.
Authorities say once the three rescued people recover, they will be handed over to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
