FLORENCE, AZ -- Authorities have captured an inmate who escaped from the minimum-security North Unit at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Florence.
Investigators had been searching for 20-year-old Yelson Moreno, who escaped from a prison complex in Florence on Sunday, officials said.
According to Barrett Marson with the Arizona Department of Corrections, Moreno cut a hole in a perimeter fence at the prison complex and was discovered missing at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Two Arizona Department of Corrections officers and a Pinal County Sheriff's deputy tracked Moreno to a field near a chile farm near Casa Grande Monday, where he was tackled and taken into custody late Monday afternoon.
They say Moreno will be sent to a maximum security unit at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Eyman in Florence.
Authorities say Moreno is a Mexico native who started serving a 30-month sentence for theft out of Pinal County on June 23.
