FLORENCE, AZ -- Pinal County Sheriff's officials say an Eloy man was arrested Tuesday after breaking into several homes in Arizona City.
Lt. Tamatha Villar said Thursday that Joseph Montijo has been charged with three counts of burglary, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and stealing a bicycle.
Montijo, 31, was discovered burglarizing the first residence when the homeowners returned home.
After being confronted by the homeowners, Montijo fled and ran into the backyard of a nearby house.
He got into the house through an unlocked back door and once inside he was again confronted by a homeowner and fled to a third residence where he stole a bicycle from the yard.
Sheriff’s Deputies apprehended Montijo after a short foot chase and found approximately 1.3 grams of methamphetamine and a glass pipe in his possession.
After being interviewed by detectives, Montijo was arrested and booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Facility.
He also had an outstanding warrant for burglary.
Montijo is being held on a $50,000 bond.
