Students and teachers at Boulder Creek High School mourned a 16-year-old girl after she died the day before school ended.

Taylor Wisdom died when the ATV on which she was riding collided with another near 27th Avenue and Estrella Road in New River.

Two other teens suffered injuries during the accident which occurred at about 4 p.m., according to Maricopa County Sheriff's spokesman Brian Lee.

Members of Maricopa County's Vehicular Crimes Unit were piecing together evidence Wednesday evening, trying to determine the cause of the crash.

"You wonder why things like this happen," the girl's uncle, Mike Pock said.  "You just have to have faith in the Lord."

According to investigators, it appeared as if at least two of the teens were wearing helmets.  However, one investigator told ABC15 that the helmets may have come off as a result of the accident.

Classmates said one of the two 17-year-olds who suffered injuries required surgery after he was impaled in the neck by a stick.

The other 17-year-old suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from an urgent care facility.

One student said the wreck should be a reminder for others to be safe this summer.

"Anything you do can ruin your life, but you just gotta play it safe." Chris Sanders said.

Wisdom reportedly suffered major head trauma and died while being airlifted to a Valley hospital.
