4:30 p.m.
The Giants select Wide Receiver Hakeem Nicks at 29.
The Titans take Kenny Britt at number 30.
AND The Cardinals Select ... Ohio State Running Back Chris "Beanie" Wells.I think this pick was just a matter of which of the three running backs fell to them at 31. The drafting of Wells most likely means the end of the Edge era in Arizona. Edgerrin will most likely be released early next week.

4 p.m.
At 25 .... Miami takes Vontae Davis, 26 the Packers take Clay Matthews.
And the BIG ONE ... at 27 the Colts select Donald Brown fro UCONN. That's BIG because Brown seemed to be the guy the Cardinals wanted at 31.
At 28 the Bills take Center Eric Wood.
Now the Cardinals will wait to see if Beanie Wells drops to them.

3:45 p.m.
Tampa Bay trades up to take Quarterback Josh Freeman at 17.
The Broncos get their defensive help with Robert Ayers at 18. And at 19 the Eagles trade up to pick wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, this most likely takes them out of the Boldin sweepstakes.
With the 20th pick, the Lions select tight end Brandon Pettigrew, a player a lot of teams in the bottom half of the first round liked.
At 20 the Browns finally make a selection and get Center Alex Mack.
The Vikings pull off a suprise and select wide receiver Percy Harvin at 21.
The Ravens make a trade to move up and select Michael Oher with the 23rd selection.
The Falcons select Perla Jerry at 24, a bit of a suprise pick.
If the Cardinals are focused on a running back with their pick, they have to like the fact that Wells and Brown are both still on the board.
Boldin watch -- it looks like the Ravens, Bears, and Titans are the three teams still in the Boldin sweepstakes.

3 p.m.
Buffalo gets Aaron Maybin at 11, and at Number 12 Knowshon Moreno is off the board!
The Broncos were expected to look for help on defense but instead go for Moreno with the 12th pick. The Broncos must have had some reason to believe that Moreno would not be around when they selected at number 18. Either way a suprising pick for Denver this early in the first round.
There was a lot of speculation that the Cardinals really liked Moreno, but I don't think they thought he would go quite that early. The Cardinals attention now is most likely shifting to UCONN running back Donald Brown and hoping he falls to them at 31.
Washington takes Brian Orakpo at 13.
New Orleans gets some defensive help by selecting Malcolm Jenkins at 14.
Houston takes Brian Cushing at 15.
Chargers take Larry English at 16, a little earlier than most people had thought he would go.

2:20 p.m.
Eugene Monroe heads to Jacksonville at eight, B.J. Raji to Green Bay at nine, and the San Francisco 49ers are loving their pick of Michael Crabtree at 10. No one really thought Crabtree would fall all the way back to 10.
The latest on Anquan ... the Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Bears may be interested in making a deal happen for Boldin, not sure what they would offer but I'll post as I hear.

2:00 p.m.The NY Jets were high on Sanchez and got their guy and in exchange the Browns receive the Jets' 1st and 2nd round picks from this year and three players.
The Bengals take Andre Smith with the sixth pick, to help shore up the offensive line.
The Raiders select Derrius Heyward-Bey at 7, I'm shocked the pick wasn't Michael Crabtree. The Raiders could have probably traded back 15 to 20 picks and still selected Heyward-Bey, in fact he may have even dropped into the second round.
As for the Anquan Boldin watch ... we're starting to get into the range that the Cardinals' phones will be ringing with draft day offers for Boldin. If the Cards really like Knowshon Moreno they will most likely need to move up to get him, I don't see him falling all the way to 31.

1:45 p.m.
So far the top five picks have been a little bit of a suprise.
Stafford was expected at one, Jason Smith was for the most part expected at two and T. Jackson was a little bit of a suprise at three as many people felt that Aaron Curry would go there. Instead Curry was a taken at four.
There was a lot of speculation that the Seahawks may go with Mark Sanchez with that pick. Now we're getting word that the New York jets are going to trade up to get Sanchez at 5.

1:30 p.m. Well the 2009 NFL Draft is officially underway and the Detroit Lions started things out by selecting Matthew Stafford, who they agreed to a contract with last night. (6 years/$78 million)
I'm at the Cardinals training facility in Tempe where things are still pretty quiet with the Cards selecting second from last in the first round.
The Cardinals will select 31st in the first round, unless they make a trade. There is nothing really new on the Anquan Boldin trade rumors at this point but they could change quickly and I'll keep you up to date on what I'm hearing here at the Cardinals facility.
