Blog blast-off

Atlantis is literally seconds away from lift off.

I'm blogging while watching the final moments before it blasts off into space to go make repairs on the Hubble Space Telescope.

One minute remains... 20... and there it goes!  This is so amazing to watch!  Imagine what those astronauts are feeling.  Right now, they're 7 miles in altitude at just one minute into the flight.  Unreal.  18 miles in alititude.  2500 miles per hour.  (and I think I drive fast!)

It's quite remarkable to see this unfolding live.  They're flying into space... and it's being broadcast on my little TV which sits on my desk here on earth.

It's now 4 minutes into the flight.  325,000 feet up.  They are flying higher than I can even type!

It was a picture-perfect launch for this 11-day mission.  No doubt those astronauts on board are seeing some perfect images as well from their vantage point high above my little desk back here on planet earth.
