DETROIT (WXYZ) - One of the vehicles Ford is highlighting during the auto show is the new version of its venerable Mustang muscle car, the Shelby GT 500.
The car, which was overseen by legendary automotive designer Carroll Shelby, reportedly comes with a whopping 540 horsepower in its six speed manual transmission that will send the car screaming down the road at electronically limited 155 mph.
Ford also says the cars ride has been improved over the previous version of the Shelby Mustang, however the company says they didn't want to disappoint muscle car lovers. That's why the company kept the car's aggressive styling. The signature Cobra logo has been moved to the side panel to open up room for a cold air intake routed directly into the grille.
The car's interior has also been revamped for better comfort. The changes include a augmented sound deadening. Ford used more leather and aluminum to give the car a sleeker look. It will be available in dealer showroom in the spring.
