In its long and stories history, the one thing luxury automaker Lincoln has never made is a station wagon.
Okay, we know the correct term these days is "crossover", implying a blend of car, SUV and minivan. But just between us? The new MKT is the first Lincoln wagon.
What's inside? Three rows of seating, lots of leather and wood, and a fair amount of tech: Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning, Active Park Assist, Blind Spot Information System and an available 5.1 Surround Sound system.
You get your choice of two engines, a six-cylinder that makes 268 horsepower and delivers 15 miles per gallon in the city, 23 on the highway...or the twin-turbo Ecoboost engine, which boosts the power to 355 horses, but improves city mileage to 16. It loses one mile per gallon on the highway, down to 22.
You also get your choice of front-wheel-drive or all-wheel drive.
The MKT is a big vehicle, and the price tag isn't small, starting at $44,200.
