Now is the time to get your lawn ready for winter.
Many people around the Valley are doing winter seeding.
Kevens Landscaping experts offer these 5 tips to help it go smoothly.
1. Dethatching (mowing as low as possible) is crucial in order to achieve a nice layer of flat grass.
Mow, rake the yard with a stiff rake, and mow again.
2. Make sure all sprinklers are working properly- clean them or simply replace the heads.
Tip- Most sprinklers have a replaceable nozzle that cost less than half the price of the whole head.
3. By perennial grass- not annual. Spend the few extra bucks on the quality grass, it will be worth it in the long run.
4. Save money and don’t cover the seed with mulch or manure.
You can simply just apply 20% more seed.
5. Do short water bursts- as much as often as 6 times per day.
In 10 days you will have a green lawn!
Do not let the water puddle while trying to germinate the seed- it will float away!
