If you've seen an odd looking contraption in your gym, yoga or pilates studio don't be intimidated.

It may look like a torture machine, but it's actually a great piece of resistance exercise equipment.

Pilates lovers are flocking to studios around the Valley, including Joyful Yoga Studio in Chandler, for a chance to be trained on Pilates machines like the The Allegro Pilates Reformer.

"It helps take your Pilates to a new level," says Syd Hoffman, owner of Joyful Yoga.

With 17,000 in use around the world, including homes, Pilates fans are raving about its ease of use, adjustability, safety and solid construction.

For more information on Pilates machines head to Pilates.com or check out the Joyful Yoga Studio website to try the machine for yourself.

For a closer look at the machine, click on the "slideshow" above.
