Unhappy with the flab you see in the mirror?

Take the 60 day challenge!

Instructors at MIRA PILATES are taking a bold approach to fitness and exercise!

It is led by lead instructor and owner Miranda Armenta, and is challenging clients with traditional exercise techniques one body at a time.

Miranda, Nebraska native and Phoenix resident, has taken her passion for Pilates, exercise and nutrition, and opened her own studio where anyone can reap the benefits of hard work, commitment, and the practice of functional body control with Pilates.

Pilates, originally developed by Joseph Pilates, focuses on core strength, muscle control, breathing, precision movements and mental focus.

Unlike traditional weight training exercises which focus on developing large muscle groups, Pilates develops and strengthens the core muscles which keep us moving everyday and create the foundation for a powerful body and disciplined mind.

One of Joseph Pilates' most notable quotes was "In 10 sessions, you will feel the difference, in 20, you will see the difference, and in 30, you will be on your way to having a whole new body!"

Miranda has taken this timeless quote and made it a reality with the "MIRA Effect."

"I wanted to take what Joseph Pilates was talking about so many years ago and make it happen today... so here you have it, the MIRA Effect," Miranda says.

The MIRA Effect took two people, one male, Jason (33), and one female, Veronica (20) and embarked on practicing Pilates everyday for 60 days!

The MIRA Effect coupled with the MIRA eating plan (note: not a diet plan) resulted in a loss of approximately 23 pounds and 8% body fat by Jason and a loss of approximately 8 pounds and 10 percent body fat by Veronica.

The MIRA eating plan covered the entire 60 day period and took into consideration "realistic, real life issues such as time, work, family, after school activities and everything else that makes sticking to a fad diet impossible."

In addition to a daily dose of Pilates, MIRA Effect participants Jason and Veronica learned portion control and ate 6 times a day to keep their metabolism up and to keep from bingeing on poor food choices.

Instead of the fast food fried egg sandwich, the MIRA Effect breakfast included items such as oatmeal with almonds and honey or maybe a bowl of frozen mixed berries with honey all swirled together in fat free Greek yogurt.

MIRA Pilates is located on the southwest corner of 5th Avenue and Goldwater in Old Town Scottsdale, 6957 E. 5th Avenue.
