5 tips to get you started
Here are some of my top tips to help get you started:
1. Simplify your diet. Our food has gotten over-complicated. We've put words like "low fat" and "low cholesterol" on labels that lead people to think the food is healthy.
The closer our foods are to coming out of the earth or swimming in the ocean, the better. A fresh tomato, for example, is healthier than a packet of catsup.
Choose whole, natural foods such as brown rice, whole grains, free range beef and wild-caught fish, and organic fruits and vegetables including lots and lots of greens.
Most people worry about what they must stop eating during a cleanse, when in reality that list is quite short. Avoid white sugar, white flour, white rice and processed foods.
2. Can't live without caffeine? Don't fret. Just switch to green tea instead of coffee. Green tea has many health benefits including helping to reduce stress while possibly improving concentration.
3. Do a light workout and some stretching daily. You only want to strive for a light sweat while you cleanse.
4. Take a supplement holiday. B-vitamins in particular require your liver for processing. You'll want to give your liver a rest while you cleanse.
Feel free to continue taking antioxidants, such as vitamins E and C, which help to neutralize the free radicals in your system.
5. To get rid of the toxins already on board, choose an effective cleansing system.
