When it comes to nutrition, there is an information overload.

There are constantly new products focusing on the latest trends, and sometimes this information can lead to confusion, leaving consumers hungry for the right advice.

Leslie Bonci, registered dietician, says she is trying to clear up the confusion surrounding nutrition information overload.

When it comes to healthy eating, the most important thing to do is start with fiber, according to Bonci.

Increasing the amount of fiber in your diet has head-to-toe benefits.

Just because there are whole grains in a product does not necessarily mean it contains fiber.

Take time to flip and read the label to check the amount of fiber.

Bonci and Kelloggs joined together to come up with Fiber-pe-dia, a new resource for consumers that is a comprehensive look at fiber.

It includes the definition of fiber, where to find it, how much we need everyday and how to incorporate it in our daily lives.

Fiber is critical in maintaining weight and a healthy lifestyle. It maintains a healthy digestive track, plays a role in improving cardiovascular health, lowers cholesterol levels, and may lower blood glucose levels.

According to Bonci, children who have more fiber in their diets get more energy from the foods they eat and are more attentive in the classroom.

There should be a goal of having fiber in every meal. In the morning, start with a high fiber cereal with milk or dry cereal with yogurt and berries.

For lunch, use high fiber bread on a sandwich and instead of mustard or mayo, try a bean spread. Make trail mix to snack on throughout the day.

For dinner, try to change the look of the plate with more veggies and less meat.
