With the temperatures on the rise, the skin-baring season is officially here.

Eating right and exercising is the healthy way to fit into that suit, and these foods can help you reach and maintain your goal.

While enjoying the back yard BBQ, incorporate these six essential flat belly foods from Yahoo! Health into your meal.

GREEN TEA

The powerful antioxidants found in green tea are known to increase metabolism. A study found that participants who consumed 690 milligrams of the antioxidants from green tea daily had lower body mass indexes and smaller waist measurements than those in a control group. Replacing sugary sodas and juices with green tea will be an easy way to stay cool without packing on the pounds.

AVOCADO

The healthy monounsaturated fats in the avocado have been linked to lowered LDL cholesterol levels and weight loss. A recent study found that the healthy-fat Mediterranean diet was more effective than a diet that avoided fats altogether.

EGGS

People who increased the percentage of protein-based calories in their diet burned 71 more calories a day, or 7.4 pounds a year, according to a British study.

GRAPEFRUIT

Move over apple. A grapefruit a day can speed weight loss. The fruit's acidity slows digestion which can make you feel fuller and satisfied for longer. Vitamin C can also help lower cholesterol and decrease risk of stroke, heart disease, and some types of cancer.
