I believe the implications for such findings apply at a magnitude we haven't even been confronted with. With the proportion of elderly comprising about 12% of the population and about to leap forward with the baby-boomer generation, any information about neuronal degradation prevention or reparation is invaluable. Not only is is heart-wrenching to see cognizance slip away from the people we love, but responsibility for their care falls to their children, often financially overextending families. Good research.

"This is good science, but excitement about a vasodilator tested only in rats is incredibly premature. There are many promising treatments already in Phase III clinical trial and available through the Banner Alzheimer's Institute."
