We can be found anywhere and we should never be lost because our cell phones can tell us where we are through GPS.
Smartphones can keep you in touch with your friends, your computer and your world all in the palm of your hand.
But how do you know which one is the right one for you?
Wirefly, an online wireless retailer, recently conducted a survey among 2,391 cell phone purchasers revealing that 64 percent of Americans were less concerned with high-tech features such as music players or video-streaming technology than they were with basic factors like the size and color of a cell phone.
These survey results are not surprising as consumers are focused on cutting costs and extra phone applications can add up quickly.
Consumer expert Jennifer Jolly says while the Palm Pre allows you to check outlook email, link your contacts from different sources and the iPhone's endless applications are fun, a two-year contract for each of these Smartphones can be costly.
Furthermore, many wireless providers charge overages, roaming, taxes and hidden fees that add additional unexpected costs.
The Nielsen Company in a June 2009 study revealed the average U.S. teen sends and receives more than 2,800 texts each month.
For those who don't have an unlimited plan, this is cause for concern as some wireless providers can charge upwards of 10 cents per text.
Jolly says consumers can ditch the fancy applications, avoid high monthly bills and eliminate surprise phone bills with prepaid, no contract plans such as Boost Mobile's Monthly Unlimited.
The plan features nationwide coverage, unlimited talk, text and wireless Web for $50 a month.
This adds up to only $1,200 for two years and there are no extra taxes or hidden fees.
Jolly adds that Boost Mobile, who was recently ranked 3rd highest in overall customer satisfaction by the JD Power 2009 Wireless Satisfaction Study, offers a Monthly Unlimited on a variety of phones starting at only $49.99.
