A short road trip near the Valley takes you on a tour of Arizona’s untouched treasure in the Superstition Mountains.

The Apache Trail, or AZ 88, links Apache Junction with Globe via Theodore Roosevelt Lake.

The road winds through the Superstition Mountains, past Goldfield Ghost Town, Lost Dutchman State Park, Canyon Lake, Tortilla Flat, and on to the Theodore Roosevelt Dam.

Eventually, the route takes you to Globe, where you can connect with the U.S. 60 and make your way back to the Valley.

Just a note, a 22-mile stretch of the route is unpaved, however, you don't need an off-highway vehicle to drive it.
