If you haven’t booked your holiday travel yet it’s time to get started.

The experts say there is no reason to wait on a better deal to come along because it likely won’t.

Michelle Donati from AAA Arizona offers six important tips on how to save money on holiday travel.

Use a travel agent. Travel agents have access to all the deals you can find online, as well as deals that the general public doesn't have access to!

Buying from an agent also gives you peace of mind. In the event your vacation plans go awry, you're likely to be able to speak to a real person.

Consider traveling on unpopular days. Many airlines have initiated a $10 surcharge on tickets for three of the busiest travel days of the season - which include the Sunday after Thanksgiving, as well as January 2 and 3.

Avoid these dates to save money and consider leaving on Thanksgiving morning and returning on a Monday or Tuesday.

Understand new regulations. A new regulation from last year's holiday travel season is the Secure Flight program.

The program requires the name on a passenger's airline ticket to match the passenger's name exactly as it appears on their government issued ID.

If the names do not match exactly, you could incur travel delays.
