With the gloomy economy comes a silver lining -- there's quite a variety of vacation package deals for travelers to choose from.

The poor economy has weakened demand for travel. To lure would-be travelers, resorts and airlines have cut costs, and some are offering deals that seem too good to be true.

Including, for instance, the popularity of unique package deals and all-inclusives. These offers often represent a great value; for instance, all-inclusives can be very convenient and budget -- friendly for those who want to know ahead of time what they will spend on food, lodging, entertainment.

In addition, package deals can provide unique and wonderful vacation experiences --often throwing in show tickets, meal credits or spa services.

However, as with anything, the devil is in the details. You need to know what to look for to ensure you're getting the vacation experience you were hoping for.

Jim Prueter from AAA Travel shares 12 tips to ensure that what you see is actually what you get when booking these kinds of travel deals.

Things to remember when it comes to All-Inclusive Deals:

#1 Know what's included (for example, drinks, top shelf liquors, etc).
#2 Understand what's not included (some entertainment, golfing or spa fees).
#3 Understand tipping policies.
#4 Watch extras-they add up!
#5 Read the fine print carefully.
#6 Consider using a travel agent.
#7 Consider purchasing traveler's insurance.

Things to remember when it comes to Package Deals:

#8 Purchase your package from a reputable travel agent or supplier.
#9 Read terms carefully to know what you're buying.
#10 Don't assume-if it's not written, ask for clarification.
#11 Keep copies of package details.
#12 Understand restrictions in advance.
