I was one of the volunteers who drove from Mesa to Eager on Oct 10th to help resuce these poor animals. Officer Jake Finley was WONDERFUL, as was a young police officer from Eager PD. We worked for 3 hours helping these scared dogs into crates, giving them towels and blankets to lay on (probably the 1st time they ever experienced that). The owner of the property was there, she's been in and out of court trying to get this man (the hoarder) to take responsibility for his actions. The photos don't show the terror in these poor dogs eyes, totally unsocialized, not knowing that we were there to help them. Most all of us that made the trip to Eager and then to Chandler (Cooper's Chance Rescue) have been visiting the dogs that are still in boarding at a local animal hospital. Despite being tramatized these wonderful dogs have been opening up to us, taking treats, wanting belly rubs and starting to trust for the first time in their lives. We all spent that Saturday doing this for no other reason than to help the animals. From what we learned, most of the people in town didn't even know about this situation, Officer Finley could only do so much and taking care of them was his priority. There are some wonderful dogs needing fosters and forever homes from this situation. If you are able please make a donation to Cooper's Chance Rescue, these doggies will be so grateful!!!

The officer who is ACO Finley. He was the one taking care of these animals and doanting his own personal time. He did it because it was right thing to do. Thank you for all the support..

What about prosecuting the owner of the property. Where were the neighbors? What happened with the authorities ...they dropped the ball on this one. I am so disgusted with the way this case was handled and think they should loose jobs and prosecute the owners. can't be that hard to find out who they were....I hope and pray the animals left will survive...please someone help them....

If only this was the real story.... my good friend is the animal control officer who is caring for these animals by himself on his own PERSONAL time not the WMHS. Why? Because the chief of police for Eagar is an idiot and got upset that this animal control officer had overtime from this unexpected case. These animals are living in horrible conditions (i.e. poop from wall to wall so deep they have no dry ground to stand on, cats locked in a room so that they turned cannibal, no food and no water) and some have not survived. Most would just (like the chief) condemn these animals to be destroyed without even trying to help them. Not all these animals can be saved because of what their owners put them through but a few very few can be saved. The animal control officer first contacted the WMHS they told him they would take all the animals, then when the ACO was able to round up help to transport the animals to the WMHS all of a sudden they could not take these dogs. The ACO has gone way out of his way to try and get these animals rescued with NO help from his superiors. Lets give credit where credit is due and get the real story out there!!!

it is not White Mountain Humane Society who is taking care of them. IT is a volunteer who is donating time after work to care for these animals everyday.

Sic Sherif Joe after the former homeowner. A long stay in tent city will fix him. News Junkie, Actually Eager is in Eastern Az. Dead center. Not sure what they had before as this has been updated.
