EAGAR, AZ – Animal rescue workers who helped save 19 abandoned dogs found at an abandoned home near Show Low earlier this month say they still need the public's help.

Gwen Miriani with Cooper’s Chance Animal Rescue, told ABC15 she is trying to help the White Mountain Humane Society find homes for four of the dogs that still haven't made it into foster homes, as well as some kittens.

Miriani said the four dogs are in the animal hospital and their condition is worsening from withdrawl and fear.

She said they are still in desperate need of foster families to help socialize the dogs as well as donations to cover veterinarian bills.

Miriani has been helping find homes for several dogs of various breeds and mixes as well as multiple cats, all found at a vacated property in the small town of Eagar.

Approximately 15-19 adult dogs, ages six months to four years, two small puppies, a litter of newborn puppies, and five emaciated cats were found in terrible conditions at the home, according to Miriani

The home was littered with animal feces and has no water or power.

Miriani said it has been hard getting help, as there are few rescue groups in the rural area to assist, but that the animals are being cared for by the White Mountain Humane Society until they can be rescued.
