Hotel San Carlos
Employees say they hear strange things go bump in the night at the San Carlos Hotel in downtown Phoenix.
On the 7th floor, 2nd floor and at the pool, ghoulish visitors have been reported.
"A lady named Leony Jensen who was an actress passed away at the hotel in 1928," said tour guide Linda Lieberman. "She's been seen multiple times on the 7th floor."
The hotel sits on the same land as the first school in Phoenix.
It's said that several children were killed by a flu epidemic there some 80 years ago.
Now, those children may haunt the basement.
"They will knock on doors and run away laughing and the hotel will get phone calls about the kids making noise -- and there are no kids staying at the hotel," Lieberman said.
Vulture Mine
Northwest of the Valley, the flu may be just one of the reasons why Vulture Mine is said to be haunted.
"Influenza came through here and killed a bunch of little kids and there's a graveyard outside the mine," said owner Marjorie Osborne.
Pictures taken several decades back may prove that the spirits still hang around. If you look at the photos carefully, the children appear to be missing shadows.
Osborne said that's just one of the eerie occurrences caught on camera.
Ghastly men, spiritual orbs and strange noises are all common here too.
Osborne said she sometimes hears three knocks at the door.
The place could also be haunted by the seven miners killed during a collapse in the 1920s, or from gold stealing criminals killed on a nearby "hanging tree."
George and Dragon Restaurant
In Phoenix at the George and Dragon Restaurant on Central Avenue, the happenings occur only at a witching hour.
"I particularly hear women, and a lot of the customers said it's a guy's voice," according to owner David Whimberly.
Whimberly has owned the pub for 20 years, and claims it's been haunted since day one.
"The guy who's working in the air ducts could hear people talking at 3, 4 o'clock in the morning, and he'd have to climb down and walk around because there's nobody here," Whimberly said. "He'd go back up and hear people, so the point is he bought a pistol."
It's enough to catch the attention of a lot of Valley paranormal groups.
"If there's anyone in the bathroom with us, we'd love to hear you respond, are you here," asked MVD Ghostchaser Deb Branning.
She said her group came across one of the strangest occurrences at the restaurant back in August.
When asking spirits in the room if they were related to Whimberly, the owner's name appeared on all of the cash register screens at the same time.
"[Whimberly] was in England at the time, and you had to have his password to put his name in there, so how that showed up at 4 a.m., we don't know," Branning said.
She even has the receipts to prove it.
