For the person in the last post insulting connections academy... Okay, i am a 10th grade student who just started the program this year. And My aunt recommended me to the program because i have a 4.3 GPA and regular public school is stressful, time consuming, and non-flexible. She has worked at connections academy since 2003 (a year after they started). And she would even tell you, Connections Academy does not reject ANYONE unless in certain states it is after the start of the school year. They never DONT have room. There is always room for more students. I enrolled a week after the school year started and they said there are about 600 other kids still enrolling. You are a horrible liar. Now it isn't for everyone. Some kids need the social status that normal brick and mortar school has to offer. But for students that have excellent achievment, are stressed by the distractions at school, go way faster than the normal school day to achieve outstanding work, NEED a program like this. I was just recommended to submit an application into MIT. MY SCHOOL OF CHOICE. The program is WONDERFUL. And My mom actually was skeptical about it. But once i started it is great. No one is rejected. Internet subsidy. One on one live lessons with teachers. Difficult work. Loads of AP and Honors classes. (more than the standard public school). Laptop/computer by HP provided. Internet, scanner, copier provided. Activities around the state for students and family. Easy connection. The BEST textbooks. It is a program that every one should LOOKINTO. Regular schooling is a joke. And parents don't realize the harm they are causing us sending us to a public, interactions school. Your kids are too affraid to tell you that, but it is the truth. They may like their friends, but they would like seeing friends on their own time and doing work on their own time a whole lot better. I don't miss out on ANYTHING now. And my GPA has went up, and my class rank is 4th out of 4800 students. CONNECTIONSACADEM

Connections Academy are a bunch of rude, uncaring jerks. I tried to get my teenage daughter who would not go to school for almost 2 years into their program and they said they did not have room for her because she did not fit in any category they have for kids' situations. Their categories for kids entering their program are kids who have been in school recently or have been home schooled recently. They don't have a category for kids who refuse to go, run away or leave home, come back home and WANT to go to school again but cannot go to a normal school or the school she was in before due to being withdrawn for truancy and now home schooling is more appropriate for the child's situation. We are talking about a public school who dictates who can and cannot enroll. This is discriminatory. I am appalled at this type of behavior from a public school. Lucky, since then, my daughter has been "allowed" into a very wonderful alternative school where she goes everyday and has a 3.0 grade average.

I am a elementary school teacher who is a big fan of home schooling and virtual schooling. After seeing what goes on in the typical classroom, I think it's the only way to go for some students are motivated to learn and are self disciplined to get the work done on their own. While it's not for everyone, it's a great addition to the education pie.
