Here's a simple way to turn something average into something unique.
Adding a fabric and trim detail to a simple hand towel is a great way to make something to coordinate with your décor or make a personalized gift.
There are so many choices of colors and prints of fabrics, you can let your imagination go wild. This project requires just a small amount of fabric, some trim, and a hand towel.
Materials:1/4 yard of cotton fabric
1 yard of rick rack trim
Thread to match
Paper back fusible web
A hand towel
Tools:Scissors
Sewing machine
Iron
Pins
1. Cut a 5 inch strip of fabric two inches wider than the width of the towel.
2. Iron the two short sides to the wrong side of the fabric. Iron so that the band will be 1/4 inch narrower on each side than the towel.
3. Fold the two long sides 1/2 inch to the wrong side of the towel and press.
4. Press the fusible web on top of each long folded edge.
5. Peel off paper and place fabric on towel and iron in place.
6. Lay rick rack on top of each long edge and sew using a straight stitch.
