Last I heard, being a Doctor wasn't that dangerous. I mean its not like being a policeman, fireman, soldier, electrician, fisherman or road worker.

Let's see EXACTLY what the cuts are and how they will be applied. Suggest that NO ONE sign/send anything to anyone until you know who or what is behind this story. Also wonder which side of the political spectrum he is on and if he has signed on as a point-man for the anti-reform clique. We are currently in Rochester MN, at the Mayo Clinic. Mid August through the end of the year for a series of medical issues, already has included a week in the cardiac unit (in error). Last May we went through extensive cardiac tests in Casa Grande. Billing through Medicare and Humana was efficient and competent. I appreciate the skill of Cardiologists but also know the billing methods. Let's take a deep breath and check this out.

I personally know Dr. Kauffman also and lets just say this:potential lawsuit coming

Even though insurance companies need to be gutted out as well, I don't have much empathy for Dr. Kauffman. If I have a heart attack, he better get used to driving a Tahoe over to the hospital to fix me up, instead of a Maserati, and he better get there on time.

Yeah, we know how much it takes for their degree. But the rest of the world full of people with degrees are suffering the same thing. Reform will never work unless it covers every aspect of the problem ~ starting with facilities that have to overcharge us to make up for those that can't, won't and don't pay to the insurance companies they bully to get the extra pay from. At this rate, it will take more than one term and a lot of hot air to fix the problem.

As someone that works in the health insurance/health care industry...this is one thing that no one has addressed in the whole Health Care Reform Issue...Physicians and Hospitals charge way too much!! They bully the health insurance carriers to get more money for things they do...and there is no reason that providers and facilitys should charge so much except that they want to be rich!!

Some of these doctors are a rip off..For example my husband had some test done for heart related where they inject some crap for the echo test and so on. Cigna won't pay it all they never told us what was covered and so forth. We received the bill for over $800.00.I'm glad the test came back saying everything was okay but almost had a real heart attack when we received the bill. So now we can't afford to pay it. .Total bill for the little they did was over $5,000.00 "according to them". RIP OFFS! you might think with the way the economy is and all they at least give their patients some consideration..they are the ones at the end are going to be screwed because not to many of us have that kind of money. Good comment BLUE...lol

The poor guy wants your help, not because of the stated reason, forced out of business, rather because he may have to give up one of his Hummers or airplanes, boats, or houses. Whine, whine, whine, all the way to the bank. Our one family member who is a physician is having no problem doing very well, as he should be. Profit margin very thin indeed, Unmitigated B$. Hogwash! I am curious what this doctor's income was last year. I know of no physician who is so poor that he has to live in my neighborhood, drive a car as old as ours, or otherwise put--the rich are crying foul--because they cannot get even more rich at our expense. In a similar note, the insurance companies are really nailing it to us. Cigna increased our drug co-payments by 50% this year. Now we cannot afford our medications. Remember both Senators McCain and Kyle voted for a bill that denied Medicare the right to negotiate with the drug companies for the prices on the drugs for which Medicare has to pay. McCain and Kyle also refused to work with their Democrat counterparts to create a Health Care Bill that everyone could live with. Re-elect McCain and Kyle again suckers and do not forget to help make this poor, poor doctor even richer, while you are at it.

Soecifically, what are his current margins (reportedly low) and what are his new margins under the rule changes? If he is serious about this issue, more financial details are needed. This sounds like it is a bit of an emotional plea verses a business case. I'm sure that if this doctor, as good as he may be, would unlikely resort to mowing lawns if his "margins" continue to erode. Why dosen't he help that case to reduce the cost of the prescriptions he issues (most more than 100% more expensive than the same drug available in Canada or Mexico? Folks, this is more about money and less about health care. How about it Doc? Are you willing to share the numbers so the public can assist?? We need more of a business case here and less "snake oil".

Dr Kauffman is my husbands cardiologist and he's a great doctor. The anger that everyone has here is misplaced. It's Medicare (that sets the standards that insurance companies follow) and the insurance companies that are screwing us.
