Company offers scholarships for college, university students

A Valley company is offering over two dozen scholarships to students who will be attending a Maricopa Community College or Arizona State University’s West campus.

Arizona Public Service will be awarding the scholarships to students who have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, who is an Arizona resident and in financial need.

ASU West students who want to apply must be a high school or current ASU West student studying business or education.

The final number of scholarships and amount will be based on endowment payouts and will be announced in July. The Deadline to apply is April 30.

APS will be awarding 25 scholarships for Maricopa Community College students in the amounts of $500 to $1,000 per semester.

The company will award 16 scholarships to students graduating from high school in spring 2009 or current community college students, seven scholarships to the Chandler-Gilbert Utility Technology Program and two scholarships to dependents of APS or its subsidiaries.

Applicants must be a high school senior or a community college student studying engineering, trades and crafts, information technology, business, education or health care. The deadline to apply is March 27.

Students who want to apply for the Maricopa community college scholarships can visit the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation website.

Students who want to apply for scholarships at ASU West can apply at the College of Teacher Education and Leadership website.
