They advertise nothing more than a simple website, but it has listings for everything from available housing to open jobs along the rail route.
"I think it's great, a great concept," said Robert Mofel as he boarded the train near 44th and Washington streets.
The website,
www.lightrailconnect.com, currently lists 90 job openings along the route stretching from Phoenix to Tempe.
The open positions range anywhere from a dentist to a management position with well-known accounting firm KPMG in Tempe.
There are also open spots for massage therapists, bartenders, servers, security specialists, webmasters, and research analysts.
The City of Tempe itself is listed as having open positions along with Arizona State University.
"Anytime you have a service that will drive them (job seekers) to a specific location, that's a good thing," said Chris Purcell, Director of Operations for Ruby Tuesday Restaurants.
Ruby Tuesday, which recently opened near 44th Street and Washington, is listed on the website as having two different openings.
"We probably have three to four (openings) at any given time," said Purcell. "We're actually seeing a better quality candidate and seeing things actually becoming more and more competitive."
Purcell says about 10 percent of his employees ride the Metro Light Rail to and from work and a large number of customers use the mass transit as well.
While many riders weren't aware of the website, upon hearing about it, they plan to begin searching for opportunities.
"I'm in the process of looking for work," said Dominic Palumbo. "Anything to create more jobs and get people to those jobs easier is great."
