There are signs the economy may be starting to recover, but in the meantime many people are still concerned about their jobs.

Whether you are facing a layoff or mandatory time off without pay, it is a scary time for a lot of people and it has many thinking about a ‘plan B’.

For some, the thought process leads them to a home-based business.

There are plenty of reasons this is a good idea for a lot of people; it can be established while they are still working at their current job, it provides extra income to save for a rainy day, and it allows them to create their own destiny.

There are plenty of different opportunities when it comes to a home-based business, of course there are the originals.

Want to work from home? Check out these companies

We’ve all heard of Avon and Tupperware, but now there is a large selection of other opportunities, with everything from pet supplies to cosmetics, jewelry and cookware the list is endless.

If you find your head spinning at the thought of trying to choose one, then head to the H.O.P.E (Helping Other People Excel) Home Based Business Expo on Saturday April 4.

Saturday, April 4th
9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Fiesta Fountains
1316 South Longmore
Mesa, AZ 85202

This is an opportunity to learn more about starting your own business or just network with other home-based business owners.

Entry to the expo is a canned food item, which will be donated to the United Food Bank.

The Expo is also looking for vendors -- for $100 you can show off your product, sell it and network with other business professionals.

The event will include guest speaker Sean Downing, – ‘ABC's - Always Be Closing’.
