Don't know if anyone is still following this story but I just found it and have to say a few words. This is more of a family tragedy than people running away from problems- they were taken away. Begin three years when mom dies of cancer. Dad (who's in a wheelchair most of time due to debilitating diabetes) is left with two teenagers to finish raising, commuting a long way to work to make ends meet. Hence, likely, the condition of the house. Jump to this past summer and dad is rushed to hospital because of chest pains and is dead three days later. One day church friends came and got the now young adult child and teenager and a few of their belongings; no idea where they are staying, don't see them again, and that is that. Very tragic and not as typical as some of the other foreclosures out there. The car loan was probably attached so it stayed. On a lighter note, I have watched the progress of the "makeover" and it is astonishing. Excellent, no, incredible what they accomplished in just a few weeks. The news should really do a follow up segment.

CanOrAz Im assuming you mean damage that people do when they lose their homes to the very banks our govt just gave our nations savings to.So they can buy up everything in sight from their competitors at pennies on the dollar.I would imagine after the federal reserve gets audited. There is likely to be more of them burned to the ground.

It's hard to understand how some people can be such pigs! Where were they raised, in a barn? For this home, though, with the car in the driveway and valuables still in there, I would wonder if something happened to the homeowner. Maybe they left and didn't come back because of some mishap. Just a thought.

Let the investors but them "as is", these guys are just middlemen who are getting a government check from the banks we just bailed out. Patronage jobs.

I KNOW HOW TO STOP THIS BAD ECONOMY. Give Afghanistan and Iraq a few more billions of dollars each and outsource more American jobs over seas. Pathetic!

CanOrAz - why don't you trust throw a book of matches in there as well.

And what the banks also need is a plumber for all the plumbing fixtures these disgusting people tear out of their homes, a carpet layer to replace the absolutely filthy disgusting carpets in the home, a sheetrock repair person to fill in all the holes, a glass glasier to replace the broken windows, a carpenter to replace the interior doors tht have been kicked in, an electrician to replace outlets that have been ripped out...the list goes on and on. I'm a Realtor who has viewed hundreds of foreclosed homes in the past 18 months and I can tell you the majority of us would think, "How the hell can people live like this????"

Sure, and let the houses fall more into disrepair and overgrown. I think this is great and I think investors are doing a great job too getting property from the banks and cleaning them up.

Scumbags! Stop working for the banks...!
