SUN CITY, AZ -- Dozens of job seekers grabbed their resumes and dusted off their best suits for a job fair geared for seniors Thursday morning.
The Banner Olive Branch Senior Center sponsored the fair from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the United Church of Sun City located at 11250 N. 107th Avenue in Sun City.
Banner Health sponsored the job fair and said about 20 area companies were looking to hire senior workers.
Some of the employers looking to hire workers included several home health companies, Best Western, the U.S. Census Bureau and AARP.
Banner Health said as the job market continues to be a challenge, especially for certain types of workers, there are positions open for senior workers.
AARP reports the unemployment rate for Americans ages 55 and older continues to be just below 7 percent, the highest rate post-World War II.
Since it's founding in 1996, the program has placed more than 300 seniors into area jobs.
